"A Brush with Kindness" is a home repair program which uses community volunteers to
help homeowners maintain their homes. Homeowners wishing to participate in the program will
volunteer “sweat equity” for their project and repay Habitat for Humanity for the repairs
with a zero interest/ extended term note. These funds are then used for other home repair
projects for other families.

What is Habitat for Humanity?
The Fredericksburg Habitat operates in the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George. Habitat for Humanity charges no interest to the homeowner and makes no profit from building with our low-income families.
Habitat has a large number of families in need, so we try to keep our building costs low by utilizing contributions, donated materials and volunteer labor. Donations come from individuals, churches, local businesses and corporations. Our volunteers come from every walk of life from school children, housewives, blue/white-collar workers, professionals to retirees.
Habitat for Humanity is a Christian based ministry open to anybody who believes that everyone deserves a simple, decent and safe place to live and in our goal of eliminating poverty housing and homelessness in the Greater Fredericksburg area.
If you believe in Habitat's goal and wish to contribute towards reaching it then visit our How to Volunteer page or Donations page.
