Building: Plans and implements construction projects; Obtains house plans. Solicits professionals and the donation of building materials. Coordinates volunteers and supervise construction of houses and other projects.
Family Support: Provides Habitat homeowners and prospective homeowners with a support system, educational opportunities and other assistance to support them in their efforts to reach and maintain long-term stability.
Family Selection: Drafts the selection criteria and application forms, screens applications, interviews applicants and recommends eligible families to the Board of Directors for selection as homeowners.
Resource Development: Responsible for coordinating the development of resources needed to conduct Habitat’s business, such as financial funding, materials, supplies, and volunteers; The committee plans and coordinates tasks such as fundraising campaigns, grant proposal writing, special fundraising events, and the solicitation and cultivation of donors; The committee emphasizes and promotes the importance of Christian stewardship in the cultivation of donors and supporters.
Legal: Defines and monitors the legal aspects of the affiliate and institutes a risk management plan; Cultivates pro-bono work for settlements and other legal work.
Leadership Recruitment: Identifies and recruits prospective directors, principal officers, and committee chairpersons.
Public Relations/Newsletter: Educates and informs the public of the need for adequate housing in our area and of our commitment to acting on this need; Organizes and coordinates public speaking engagements, communication with the media and mailings; Produces and distributes a newsletter and other printed materials; Promotes the affiliate through social media, website, and video productions.
Site Selection: Targets sites where the affiliate can build homes and presents site recommendations to the Board.
Volunteer & Human Relations: Develops educational packets for new volunteers; Provides volunteer lists to committees/board as needed for staffing purposes.
Worship, Celebration & Hospitality: Leads diverse prayer and social activities at each meeting of the Board of Directors and at special events/meetings; Arranges refreshments for official functions as needed.
Office Management: Organizes and manages the functions of the Habitat office space(s) in coordination with the Executive Director/Executive Committee.
Finance & Budget: Organizes and manages the financial planning/record keeping for the Affiliate.
Youth: Coordinates activities to involve youth in Habitat projects and provides volunteer opportunities.
Church Relations: Organizes and coordinates the involvement of local churches in the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Collegiate Relations: Coordinates activities to involve the University of Mary Washington and Germanna Community College in Habitat projects and provides volunteer opportunities, including Freshmen Welcome, Into the Streets, Act/Speak/Build week, and other community service projects; Coordinates service learning projects with university professors and staff.
